Vietnam is an exotic land filled with diverse scenery, intriguing culture, and a rich, fascinating history. The country can be divided in to three distinct geographical regions, each with its own highlights and cultural distinctions. To truly capture the essence of Vietnam travelers should spend time in each region; however, shorter trips are still rewarding experiences!
Known as 'The Land of Smiles', welcoming Thailand has long been a popular destination for travelers. As a diverse country with a well-developed tourism infrastructure, travelers often find themselves returning to the Kingdom to explore new towns or revisit favorite beaches. Whether it is exploring ancient ruins, trekking through remote villages, or snorkeling in clear blue waters, Thailand has it all.
Cambodia is known for its magnificent Temples of Angkor and its tragic recent history, but there is much more to be discovered in this intriguing country. As the tourism infrastructure has improved, more destinations and opportunities have emerged. Stepping off the tourist path, travelers can experience the friendly locals, traditional culture, and beautiful scenery which fill the country.
Considered by many to be the hidden gem of Southeast Asia, Laos is quietly emerging as one of the region’s most popular destination. Seduced by the beauty and charm of Luang Prabang, visitors are often tempted to stay in the northern city. However, there are many more beautiful destinations and options for those wishing to truly experience this tranquil country.
Deeply spiritual and often enigmatic, Myanmar is an enchanting destination loved by all who visit. From the hills of the Himalayas to the white beaches of the Bay of Bengal, the country's natural beauty is only matched by its cultural and historical wonders. Whether visiting for a week or a year, Myanmar is sure to stay in your heart forever.
Southeast Asia is one of the few places in the world offering great cultural diversity within such a small area. Crossing from one country to the next, travelers are often awe-struck at the differences- sometimes subtle, sometimes dramatic. The five countries of the region are a feast for the senses and offer a seemingly endless amount of wonders to be discovered.
Exotissimo Destinations
From the mountains of Vietnam to the beaches of Thailand, Southeast Asia is a dynamic and alluring region. With so much to discover it is no surprise that many travelers return over and over again.
Thailand is highlighted by a mountainous north, a historic, temple-filled central region, and endless stretches of beach in the south. Having long been a traveler’s favorite, the tourism industry is well established and moving through the country is easy and enjoyable. Popular destinations include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ayutthaya as well as the southern beaches of Phuket, Koh Samui, and Krabi.
To the east, Vietnam is contending for the title of the Southeast Asian travel hotspot. Having emerged from its tragic wartime past, travelers to the country are now free to move about and explore its varied terrain and rich culture. Vietnam is bound by its major cities - Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south where the modern and traditional Asia meet in a colorful environment. The rest of the country is packed with enough marvelous historic and scenic destinations to keep a traveler busy for years!
Nestled between Vietnam and Thailand, travelers are beginning to discover the wonders of Cambodia. From the majestic temples of Angkor in sleepy Siem Reap to the buzzing capital city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia is making a name for itself as a popular destination. Add to that the tranquil rural areas and picturesque southern coast and Cambodia will make a fabulous destination for any Southeast Asia travel itinerary.
Peaceful and serene, Laos seems worlds away from the modern western culture. In this sparsely populated, deeply spiritual country time appears to slow down. Savor the beauty of temple-dotted streets in Luang Prabang, relax along the banks of the Mekong in the quiet capital of Vientiane, or interact with hilltribe minorities in the country’s mountains. From north to south, Laos is unspoiled and radiating with natural beauty.
Bordered by the dynamic, rapidly changing countries of China and Thailand, Myanmar is a place where time seems to stand still. Known as “The Golden Land”, the country is rich in cultural heritage and natural scenic landscapes with abundant tourist attractions. History enthusiasts can bask in ancient cities and archaeological museums. Nature lovers can discover the lure of Myanmar forests, wildlife sanctuaries and scenic spots. Beach lovers can relax and enjoy the call of the sea at pristine beaches.
Each of our five destination countries in Southeast Asia offers its own enriching opportunities. Whether you want an epic journey covering all five, or a shorter holiday in one country Exotissimo’s team of travel experts can help you plan the ideal getaway.

Of all the destinations in Myanmar, I enjoy trekking and biking trip near Kalaw. As for my experience and feeling, I cherish the memory of biking trip from Kalaw to Myinmahti Cave, one of the ancient religious edifices. It is exhilarating to cycle through flower beds and beautiful scenery along the way.
As the weather is temperate, one can go there without feeling tired. Moreover, one can go into Myinmahti village and meet the friendly local people and observe their culture and traditions. As for the trekking, one can go one day’s round trip from Kalaw to Ywathit and Taryaw Palaung villages to enjoy natural beauty and traditional customs.

Dear Laneya and Lee,
I'm delighted to report that our trip to Burma was just fantastic.
Your hotels, guides, itinerary suggestions and arrangements were truly wonderful. Of course, I fell in love with the gracious people and the traditional culture where religion, superstition and mythology blend into one.
Kenneth was the perfect guide, so erudite, humorous, kind, patient and professional. Everyone just loved him! In addition, he is a gourmand so his restaurant suggestions and menu ordering were first rate; a banquet every day.
Everyone enjoyed the varied experiences but the luxurious Pandaw boat cruise with fascinating village trips and an amazing guide in Mr. "Go To", idyllic Inle Lake and the resort (unbelievably gorgeous) and the hikes to the ethnic minority villages were the definite highlights. Oh, and did I mention the shopping? Wow!
I felt so bad for the people involved in the tourism industry in Burma as very few tourists have come this year, as you know. We all tried to do our best to tip as we went along. Everyone brought supplies and we bought supplies in the market along the way. We also gave money to the local guide in Kentung (charming, enthusiastic and absolutely fabulous with the tribal people) to buy medicines, which we delivered on our hikes.
Given the drama at the Bangkok Airport, it was greatly reassuring to learn in Mandalay that the Yangon Exotissimo office worked on an alternative plan B for us. We really appreciated their efforts.
In conclusion, then, I can truthfully say that all of us have become enthusiastic ambassadors for Burma and will spread the word!
Looking forward to traveling with Exotissimo again!
Best,
Carla
